Sharp is so confident LCD is the TV technology of the future,
it will cease plasma production by 2005. This elegant 22inchTVis
leading the flatscreen line and certainly looks the part.
Taking its cue from earlier, smaller Aquos TV models, the
widescreen LC-22SV2E has an attractive metallic finish and
sits on top of the brand's signature curved stand, which can
swivel in just about any direction. Not that you'll have any
problems with the viewing angle, mind you: it is so wide that
the image deteriorates only slightly when watched from the
most unlikely positions.
Sharp retains the bizarre 'putty-knife' remote control of
earlier sets in the range. We applaud innovation, but can't
see the thinking behind this one. It feels too thin at its
base, but is fat and ungainly at the top, which has no obvious
benefits and just looks plain weird.
